Lawrence Richardson
A memorial service for
Lawrence Richardson, 75.
Rock Island Road, Gouverneur.
will be held today
(Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at
Green Funeral Home with
Rev. Stanley E. Brown, pastor
of Richville United
Church, officiating. A committal
service will follow at 3
pan. in Maple Grove Cemetery,
Richville.
Mr. Richardson died Jan.
30 at his home of an apparent
self-inflicted gunshot
wound.
Contributions may be
made to the Gouverneur
Rescue Squad.
Surviving are three sons.
Loren A., Cato. Leon M.,
Burnt Hill, and Alan L.,
Gouverneun 11 grandchildren,
and a sister, Helen
Duddesu Camillus.
A son, Gary E. Richardson,
died Feb. 11, 1985.
Born at Gouverneur on
Aug. 2. 1912, a son of Orin
and Annis Hall Richardson,
he attended Gouverneur
schools and married Lois
Margaret "Peg9* Jones in
June 1934 at Waddington.
Mr. Richardson was employed
at the New York Air
Brake Co.. Watertown, during
World War IL He was
then employed at Jess
Skinner's Garage of Gouverneur,
which he later operated
in a partnership
known as Matthews & Richardson
service station,
corner of Grove Street and
Dodge Place. The business
closed in 1977.
He was employed at Penguin
Lanes and was a member
of the Gouverneur Odd
Fellows Lodge.
Mrs. Richardson, a native
of North Gouverneur, died
Jan. 26, 1977. at the age of
61.

Jan. 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the
Gouverneur E. J. Noble
Hospital where she had been
a patient for a week.
The funeral was Friday,
Jan. 28, at the Burr - Green
"Funeral Home with Rev.
Stanley E. Brown, pastor of
the United Methodist Church,
officiating. Burial will be in
Maple Grove Cemetery,
Richvllle.
Surviving are her husband;
four sons, Gary E.,
Rochester, LeonM , Manlius,
Loren A., Cato, and Alan L.,
Gouverneur; a sister, Mrs.
Carol Clark, Gouverneur, and
four brothers, Earl Jones,
Gouverneur, Donald Jones,
Copenhagen, Paul Jones,
Dewitt, and Harold Jones,
Redfield.
She was born at North
Gouverneur March 7, 1915,
daughter of Benjamin and
Mary Billings Jones, and
moved with her family to
Copenhagen where she attended
school.
She married Laurence
Richardson in 1934 at
Gouverneur. Mr. Richardson
has been a partner for
several years in the Matthews
& Richardson service
station.
Mrs. Richardson was an
active member and officer of
the Una Rebekah Lodge, was
a bowler with the M & R Arco
team and in the Sunday Night
Coed bowling league, and had
served as an officer of
various women's leagues.
She also had worked a
number of years on the
election board of local
District 6.
