GOUVERNEUR- Patricia C.
(Constantikes) Mason, age 73, of
Rowley St., Gouverneur, died
Tuesday morning, August 26, 2003
at EJ Noble Hospital, Gouverneur
following a courageous battle with
Cancer.
She was born in Gouverneur
on May 20,1930 a daughter of the
late Demetrius and Matula
(Morphoyenis) Constantikes. She
was a life long resident of
Gouverneur and was a graduate of
Gouverneur Central High School,
Skidmore College with a BA in
Music Education, and received her
fost graduate education at SUNY
ostdam.
She was a member of St.
James Church where she was
Music / Choir Director from 1962-
1978. She had taught music at
Wallkill Central, Onondaga
Central, and Indian River Central
Schools ending her career in 1968
to be at home with her family.
She had been a real estate
salesperson for Fournier Realty of
Gouverneur for several years.
A civic minded woman, she
was appointed by Gov. Hugh
Carey to the St. Lawrence Eastern
Ontario Commission (SLEOC) and
served as it's secretary for many
years. She was a member and past
President of the St. Lawrence
ravelers Club, past president of
the EJ Noble Hospital Aux.,
former board member and past
president of the St. Lawrence
County Lab Board of Managers,
past president of the Gouverneur
Public Library, former member of
the Board of Directors of the
United Helpers Nursing Home of
Ogdensburg, current board
member of the Gouverneur
Foundation, current member of the
Gouverneur Lions Club of which
she was awarded the Lion of the
Year Award in 2000-2001.
She had been active in the
Gouverneur Democratic party
having run for town supervisor in
1975. She had been a musician and
soloist for many weddings and
funerals in the Gouverneur area.
She enjoyed music, singing,
antiques, gardening, word puzzles,
genealogy, cooking and
entertaining. But her true love was
her family and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband
of 48 years, James L. Mason, who
she married on July 30,1955 in St.
James Church, Gouverneur. Her
two sons: James F. Mason of
Birdsboro, PA and S. Scott Mason
of Westfield, NY, Her four
grandchildren, James and Rebecca
Mason of Birdsboro, PA and
Amanda and Katlyn Mason of
Westfield, NY. Her sister Sophia
Guidi of Marco Island, FL and her
brother George Constantikes of
Naples, FL.
Friends may call at the Green
Funeral Home, Inc., 33 Park Street,
Gouverneur on Thursday from 2-4
& 7-9 PM and are invited to attend
the Mass of Christian Burial on
Friday morning at 10a.m. at St.
James Church, Gouverneur.
Interment in New St. James
Cemetery.

Gouverneur Museum, 30 Church
St., Gouverneur, NY 13642.
