Evelyn Bernadette Lavoie, of Fall River, age 88, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, December 10, 2021. She was the wife of Wilfred L. Lavoie and the two celebrated their sixty third wedding anniversary on November 8, 2021, with one of their many small family dinners. She was affectionately called "Evie" by her husband and her grandchildren couldnt agree on what to call her, so she was lovingly referred to as Buggy, Nana, and Grandma. Born on July 29, 1933, Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Fall River and born to the late Thomas W. and Alice (Dauphinais) Stanton. A graduate of B.M.C Durfee High School, class of 1951, Evelyn enjoyed several sports, although her favorites were bowling and swimming. She worked at the New England Phone Company and raised her five children. During her life, she was a member of the Westport Yacht Club, where she took her family to swim lessons, and a member of the Quequechan Club. Evelyn regularly volunteered at the Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital and was a dedicated communicant of Holy Name Church. Evelyn spent her retirement traveling with her husband and friends. She was a firm believer in long walks to clear your head and taking a deep breath on a cold winters night. Her favorite prayer was "Hail Mary," and she frequently said her rosary at the statue of Mary in Holy Name. In addition to her husband, she leaves behind five children, Tracey A. Lavoie of Port Angeles, Washington, Mark E. Lavoie and his wife Karen L. of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Jacqueline M. Lavoie of Fall River, Allison M. Panayakul of Berkley, and Patricia A. Lavoie of Swansea; six grandchildren, Macey and her wife Alaina, Mitchell, Sydney, Cole, Reid, and Lane; and her sister Marjorie G. McHenry and sister-in-law Phyllis "Peachy" V. Stanton. She was the sister of the late Thomas L. Stanton, Russell W. Stanton, and Jacqueline M. Selleck. In honor of Evelyns memory, please say a prayer. Dress your Sunday best and set the dinner table properly for a nice family meal, because there was nothing she loved more than having her family around her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday December 18, 2021 at 10 AM in Holy Name Church 709 Hanover St. Fall River, MA. Internment is private.
