Per Anna DeLee Broderick to SMB, abt 1971, he was in charge of the horses at the Burden Iron Works. Kicked in the leg and it was thought it would have to be amputated. Refused to allow operation saying that if he was going to die he'd die whole. He did survive that.

- Information per email Cheryl Mack to SMB, 5/12/09, referencing St. Mary's Church records:
I checked the St. Mary's church records again (looking for different spellings), and found James Dalee married Margaret Guare on May 14, 1853. Witnesses were William Kayley and Anna Buntell. Given that these are transcriptions, and the fact that the name "Guare" doesn't show up in baptismal or other records that I checked, I'm a little dubious about the spelling - could have been Guire (or McGuire). [I had one that had been transcribed Guane and it turned out to be Quinn]

-James DeLee died suddenly yesterday afternoon at his holme, 357 Second street, having been ill less than twenty-four hours. The deceased had complained of being ill during the morning, and medical aid was called. He sank rapidly, passing away in the afternoon. He had been employedi in the Burden Iron works many years.Two sons and two daughters survive.
