Helen was the last of eight children born to Richard Purcell and Margaret Sheehan.
She married Bartholomew Leonard, Jr. about 1897. They both were lifelong residents of Johnstown.
When she was working outside the home, she worked as hemmer in a shirt factory.
Helen was ill for several months before she died at St. Mary's Hospital, in Amsterdam, NY.
