      I've looked at this image and the one on the Family Search site and I think the name is spelled dgasme which may be the French-soeaking priest's phonetic spelling of James--he added the d before the g to duplicate the hard "j" sound in English rather than the soft "j" the way it's pronounced in French. Census records for the family list a James b. about 1823.
